StartupAwards.SK is the annual competition for the most innovative tech companies from Slovakia. For us organizers, it is much more than a spectacular gala event. It’s a virtual accelerator, a tool for advancement of participating startups, a platform connecting them with investors and corporate partners.
StartupAwards.SK creates most of its value for startups behind the scenes, during the process leading up to the finals. Four years ago, we decided that the acceleration part of the StartupAwards.SK is where we wanted to focus most of our efforts and resources. We introduced an intense, 3-day Bootcamp for pre-selected applicants and kept on expanding on the concept ever since.
The Bootcamp will take place on November 3rd to 5th at the X-bionics sphere, a truly stunning location. We will use the amenities not only for mentoring sessions and presentations, but we make sure to surprise you with some fun activities.
We will start on Friday evening with a short introduction, dinner and informal networking. Bootcamp is a lot about entrepreneurs sharing amongst each other. Turns out that entrepreneurs face very similar problems when starting a business and its very helpful if they can reach out to their peers for advice. Bootcamp is a great opportunity to get to know fellow entrepreneurs and build relationships, which could last for years.
Saturday will start with intense group mentoring sessions. We’ll split founders into several mentoring groups based on market verticals and assign appropriate mentors to each group. Startups will pitch and receive immediate feedback. Group sessions focus on pitch structuring and message delivery. This often seems mundane to technical founders, but product still needs to be marketed and investors approached. Thus, it is very important that startups are able to concisely and effectively communicate what their business and product is all about.
Saturday afternoon is reserved for 1 on 1 mentoring sessions. Each founder is free to choose from our roaster of mentors packed with top CEE VCs, corporate leaders and experienced entrepreneurs. These sessions will be focused mainly on fine-tuning the value proposition, exploring business model possibilities, devising go-to-market strategies and often times jut outright pitching corporates and investors.
Sunday will be the d-day for all those looking to get to the grand finale. We will have a final pitching session and at the end of the day, the jury will select the top 8 startups which will have the opportunity to pitch a jury of top international VCs, on a stage of the Slovak National Theatre, facing 1000 startup enthusiast and multiple TV cameras.
StartupAwards.SK is bridging the gap between startups with unproven products and corporates looking for innovative solutions. We have been blessed to work with some of the most innovative corporates in Slovakia including Tatrabanka, ZSE, O2 Slovakia and many others. It has been a journey of mutual understanding and persistence. Our partners have been determined to design internal processes to absorb external innovation and we are grateful to be part of that. This cooperation is bringing its first fruits as several StartupAwards.SK alumni are now implementing their products with our partners. We love to see startups find their first customers at our Bootcamp.
We have designed the Bootcamp to be the perfect place to kick off your fundraising efforts. Fundraising is hard. One has to know the right investors, send around pitch decks and hope for that first meeting. We are thrilled to feature a significant number of CEE early-stage investors at our Bootcamp. You can get mentoring and pitch to the likes of Credo Ventures, DayOne Capital, Neulogy Ventures, Speed Invest and many others. You will also be able to meet leaders of the most prominent accelerator programs such as Launcher, Startup Yard and WeXelerate. To date, our alumni had raise funding north of 15 million Euro and counting. It seems to be working.
Stay in the loop and sign up for our news updates. We will contact you sparingly with news on events, speakers and competition details.
